Activists Demand Bail Reform in Albany

Roc / ACTS members, advocacy groups and activists from across the state went to Albany last week to demand bail reform. Currently, thousands of innocent civilians sit in jails for crimes they have not been convicted of simply because they don't have the money to afford bail. We live in a society that criminalizes poverty. Just one day in jail can be enough to derail a persons life and we allow some legally innocent people to sit in jail for months awaiting trial.

These practices are spurred on by greed and a broken system. It is time to call your legislators today and let them know that you demand common sense bail reform and to take steps to end mass incarceration, cash bail and solitary confinement.
