RocACTS is a federation of the Faith in Action network  (FIA) which was founded in 1972 and began as a regional training institute to help support neighborhood organizations in California.  Today Faith in Action has 45 affiliated federations and 8 statewide networks working in 200 cities and towns and 21 states.

 

This Faith ln Action-RocACTS relationship is key in that FIA provides intensive leadership training that teaches people how to use the tools of democracy to improve their communities.  As a result FIA federations are led by ordinary people who have learned to successfully use the levers of power to bring resources and political attention to their communities. 

 

It is a choice - not a mandate - that federations like RocACTS participate with FIA.  All in this national network are working to create a world where everyone belongs, can thrive, and has a say in the decisions that shape their lives.  FIA and RocACTS believe in a society free of economic oppression, racism and discrimination in which every person lives in a safe and healthy environment, is respected and included, and has agency over the decisions that shape their lives.
